Today’s Bible Study comes from John 9:1-7. In this scripture, a blind man approached Jesus. Jesus spat on the ground, made mud, and spread it over the man’s eyes. Then, he asked the man to go wash in the pool of Siloam. After washing, the man came back seeing! It was a “light” miracle as Jesus took this man from darkness to sight.
A few chapters later in John 11, we read about the “ultimate” light miracle. Jesus’ friend Lazarus died. Four days later, Jesus visited his tomb. He asked the people to roll the stone aside and then commanded Lazarus to come out. Lazarus, Jesus’ friend (the one that had been dead for four days), arose and came out… alive! Jesus took his friend from complete darkness (death) and gave him life and light.
When Jesus walked the earth, he specialized in moving people from darkness to light. Thankfully, he continues the same ministry today.
Whatever darkness you are facing, rejoice knowing that if Jesus can heal the blind and raise the dead, he can defeat the darkness in your life. Jesus said in John 10: 10, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
As we finish this week’s Bible Study, leave me a comment.
