Your Identity in Christ Bible Study Day Four

Have you ever felt like you have sinned too much and there is no way that God could love you?  Maybe you feel like there is no way that you could be forgiven and live an abundant life?

Today’s scripture refutes these ideas.  It comes from Romans 5:18 and states, “Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.”  This verse assures that  regardless of your sins and of how much you have missed the mark, Christ crucified changes everything.  Jesus died to restore your relationship with God and to give you a new life!

Romans 8:1 states, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”  The first step towards forgiveness and a new life is to receive Christ’s FINISHED work on the cross-his sacrifice, by faith.  The second step towards a new life is to realize that condemnation is not from God.

Adam’s sin brought condemnation into the world.  When we were judged under the law (before grace), we were condemned because we couldn’t keep the law.  Now, under grace, the enemy wants to continue to keep you defeated- to condemn you.  John 10:10 says the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy.  His job is to keep you from knowing your TRUE identity.

BUT THE TRUTH is . . . Jesus DIED to give you an abundant life (John 10:10).  This abundant life includes forgiveness, restoration, and a new life through Him (Romans 5:18).

You are the righteousness of God; it’s your TRUE identity.  Don’t accept condemnation!  You are HIS new beautiful creation!!
