Faith Bible Study Lesson five

Do you ever feel overwhelmed with life?  Do you feel like you are running from place to place to ensure that you “make the grade?”  Do you ever feel too busy DOING to actually LIVE?

Today’s scripture comes from Hebrews 4: 9-11.  It states, “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.

The verses tell us that by faith, if you believe in Christ, you no longer work for acceptance, instead you trust in His finished work.  You are no longer judged based on what you do (or can’t do).  Instead, what God wants from you is to rest. . .and to trust that He has already done the work for you.

The principle of rest applies not only in your relationship with God, but also with men.  You don’t have to keep working to ensure that others know you are good enough.  Instead, you are good enough because you are the child of the God of the universe.  You are his masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10); Christ has already made you perfect as he is making you holy (Hebrews 10:14).

By faith, realize your worth today!  You are special because God says you are special!

So. . .rest!!!

Thank you for joining me this summer for Bible Study!  Now… I am going to REST for awhile as I gear up for a new year!  Even though we won’t be doing Bible Study together I hope you will carve out a few minutes to rest in His word!  :)!!!

Thanks for reading!

Love ya!
