This week’s Bible study is about faith: what is it, how we get it, and the importance of having it. Hebrews 11:1 says faith is “the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” The dictionary says that faith is “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.” Faith affects our salvation, the promises of God, and the direction of our life.
People have faith in a number of different things. Before the Great Depression, many people had faith in their money. However, when the Depression hit, they realized that their faith was misplaced. You’ve probably known people who had faith in their jobs, but were later fired. Maybe you’ve seen people place their faith in a certain product, company, or person and be let down. Where we place our faith matters.
Today’s scripture comes from Proverbs 23:7 and reads, “For as a man thinks in his heart. So is he.” This verse further reiterates the importance of “right believing.” What you believe in or where you place your faith is what you become.
Today, we must place our faith in God- our provider, our sustainer, our deliverer, and our redeemer. I Corinthians 1:9 says, “God never fails anyone. It is he who called you to belong to his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” You are His and that allows you to walk in victory! Remember that truth today!
Thanks for reading!
Love ya! 🙂
