Musings on My Mother’s Day Present (Sean built a copula for my weathervane) and God’s Unceasing Love

Even with the COVID crisis going on in our nation, I had a great Mother’s Day. I spent time with my family and Sean gave me an awesome present! He built a copula for me to go on the top of our dormer.

I’ve wanted a copula on our house for years (although to be honest I’m not exactly sure why). I think I put pressure on him to complete one when I bought a cardinal weathervane a few weeks back.  When I saw the cardinal, I knew I had to have the weathervane. For me, cardinals represent part of my love story with God.

About 10 years ago, I was going through a very dark time in my life. I was down, depressed, and discouraged. I was walking in defeat. One day, while I was crying and praying at the large window in our bedroom, a little cardinal came and sat on the fence outside. Another little cardinal came in the next second. More kept appearing. After about ten minutes. I had a flock of cardinals before me. I counted twenty-seven blanketing the area!

Outside of that time, I have never seen more than a few cardinals in our yard at once.  However, at one of the worst periods in my life, God sent cardinals to remind me that, even in my gloomiest moments, He still cares about me.

Sean did a great job on my copula and weathervane.

When I look at the weathervane, I remember that regardless of what is going on in my life, God holds me in the palm of his hand. He knows every hair on my head and he cares about every detail of my circumstances!  In fact, he cared enough to send a flock of birds to brighten my day during a very hard time.

If you are walking through a difficult situation today, take comfort in the fact that God loves you too!  He is concerned with whatever you are facing.  Isaiah 43:1 says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Thanks for reading!

Love ya!  :)!!

  1. What a beautiful story about the cardinals. God is so wonderful and knows exactly what we need. I lost my mother to a drunk driver in 1984. I was so angry with God, I went on my deck and screamed at the heavens. I now realize God does not make mistakes…no matter what. I thank you and your church for bringing the word of God through message and song. I appreciate preacher Fann so much. God bless you all.
